The Three Billy Goats Gruff (De tre bukkene Bruse) is a Norwegian fairy tale about three goats that have no grass left for them to eat.  Near where they live is beautiful meadow on a hillside, but to get to the meadow they must first cross a bridge.  Under the bridge lives a fearsome troll who eats anyone who passes over the bridge.  Will the goats be able to get to the meadow?  

This fairy tale was collected by Peter Christen Asbjornsen and Jorgen Moe in their Norske Folkeeventyr, first published between 1841 and 1844.
